KIM! ‘Cute Little Savage Vol. 1’

“…we wanted the album to be a teen album with some heartbreak songs and also some empowering ones. We wanted to make it as relatable as possible for the listeners.” – KIM!

October 8th, 2021 (New York, NY): Indonesian Teen Idol, KIM!, has released her debut album, Cute Little Savage Vol. 1, today. Named by Ones To Watch as the “Rising Star You Need on Your Radar”; this album’s theme revolves around teen life including stories about first loves, first heartbreaks, bullying and topics related. As KIM! navigates through her own teenage years, she specifically wanted this album to be relatable to her listeners, and producer NSG wanted to showcase her strong personality and youthful energy. The two combined their visions, and poured their creativity into this project, until it became a solid and cohesive piece of art for the world to immerse themselves in.

At just 15 years old, KIM! has already established a core fanbase with almost 2M streams across all platforms, not to mention the additional thousands of YouTube cover views, and placed second runner up on The Voice Kids Indonesia back in 2017. After her appearance on The Voice, KIM! signed to San Francisco-based label and distributor EMPIRE, where she began working on her debut album with the help of Indonesian music producer, NSG. Consisting of eleven tracks, Cute Little Savage Vol. 1 ranges from teen pop, to dance pop, with strong elements/influence from R&B and Hip-Hop.

The track “Whoa!” showcases two different sides of KIM!’s talents, both her singing and rapping. Her fierce delivery on the track is meant to boost the confidence of every listener and make them feel as though they can conquer the world. The music video for title track Cute Little Savage,” which was released in April of last year, skyrocketed in popularity with over 800K views and multiple influencer YouTube reaction videos.

“This was my first time recording an album. The process was not stressful at all because my producer NSG was very supportive and we were on the same page about things too. This album was not recorded in like a week. We recorded it for like a few months and in different places.  We were really passionate about making this album so we didn’t really have any difficulties. We wanted the album to be a teen album with some heartbreak songs and also some empowering ones. We wanted to make it as relatable as possible for the listeners.”

Album Tracklist:

“Perchance you want to hear a vocal talent previously unknown to you but strangely familiar to established megastars with its polyphonic range. Then we insist you listen to KIM!, a rising Indonesian star […]” – Ones To Watch

ABOUT KIM!

Kimberley Fransa Salim, known to her listeners as KIM!, is an Indonesian teen idol and entertainer. KIM! started her singing career at a very young age and in 2017, she got the second runner-up position on The Voice Kids Indonesia. KIM! released her debut single, “Shine” featuring Willy Winarko and produced by NSG in 2019. A year later, KIM! released a cover of Ariana Grande’s hit single, “7 Rings” which went viral on YouTube and hit 1 million views in less than three weeks and now sits at over four million. In 2020, she released “Never Break Me Down” as part of EMPIRE Presents: Voices For Change Vol. 1 to voice her concern over social issues such as racism, mental health, and violence against people of color alongside artists such as Mozzy, D Smoke, Rexx Life Raj, Lloyd, Bohan Phoenix, PJ Morton and more.

Prior to the release of Cute Little Savage Vol.1; KIM! Was seen paying homage to the style and attitude of Madonna’s Vogue, with the release of  “Take Control.” KIM! states; “So with Take Control, the intention I had was to make a retro track with NSG. Something that’s upbeat, energetic and has that 80s feel, but also sounds futuristic.” She elaborated; “We also really wanted to maintain the same themes of empowerment from my previous songs, and hopefully this track can showcase that.”

The message behind “Take Control” lies within its lyrics; it’s about moving forward and releasing oneself from anything and everything that holds you back. “You better stop thinkin’ about the past, cause the past ain’t thinkin’ about you. You better look deep within, I see nothin’ but beauty inside of you” KIM! sings confidently. Coming off of her previous singles this year, ALL MY GIRLSand Care 4 U,” KIM! continues to push boundaries and strive to be an artist that boosts the voices and confidence of all the girls around her. “Just feel the rhythm and let the music take control.”

KIM! is signed with San Francisco-based label and distributor, EMPIRE.
